Leaf paintings in May

Various leaves in varying stages of decay. Trying to capture the changing colours, fine textures, and patterns of change. Enjoyed trying to capture the subtlety of the beige leaf. Made the beige from a light (“tea wash”) mix of raw sienna, paynes gray, burnt umber and alizarin crimson. There is a colour called “Buff Titanium” (Daniel Smith) that I’d like to buy and try, I suspect it would make a good beige. But it’s also fun trying to make “impossible” colours by experimentation and mixing the pigments you already have in your palette.
