Golden Chalice Vine

The peculiar, oversized trumpet flowers of Golden Chalice Vine, Solandra grandiflora, have always fascinated me. They are so large, apparently night-flowering although I’ve only seen them flowering during the day, and poisonous. So I decided to draw one for my field journal. I picked a wilted sample from the ground and think it still had a vaguely sweet scent. Below is the first layer - Cadmium Yellow Pale Hue & Sap Green. For the subsequent layers I used Raw Sienna and Raw Umber and touches of Burnt Umber to deepen the yellow.
