Orchid Tree, Butterfly Tree

It was the fan-shaped leaves of this beautiful tree in May, turning slightly brown at the edges, which caught my eye. There are many of these trees in my neighbourhood. Then in around September, the trees started to flower, some bearing bright pink flowers and others white flowers, ornately and aptly named Orchid Tree or Butterfly Tree, among the many names. There are a lot of species of Bauhinia but the pink may be Bauhinia purpurea. The first sketch is from a real sample that I finished from the photo. The second two are from photos I took.
