Yellow Hibiscus

Beautiful, flouncy yellow hibiscus flower, from a photo taken in April ‘20. This was only meant to be a sketch - the washes of watercolour added later warped the flimsy paper (do you like my alliteration).

Three things I forgot in this painting 1) the defined shadow of the pistil 2) the red on the stigma “pom poms” at the top of the flower 3) the little fly on the petals.

Wow, this flower is stunning, I really didn’t do it justice in the sketch/painting.
