Seshat – The Scribe (Egyptian Goddess)
Our first Deity of
the Month, is Seshat (also known as Seshet
or Sesheta). Her name means 'The Female
Scribe' and the Egyptian people believed
that she was the inventor of writing. She
was the matron of all libraries and Mistress
of the House of Architects. She kept historical
records and was also the goddess of accounting
and mathematics.
It is significant that a goddess presided
over positions usually held by men at the
time...
