Plankton, a sketchnote

After listening to the BBC In Our Time program about plankton, I decided to create a sketchnote to summarise and solidify my understanding of the key points.

The content in all the In Our Time programs is incredibly rich. I realised that by simply listening to the show (though very much enjoyable!) I would miss out on the nuances and forget most of the facts. Hence, the sketchnotes!

There are two parts to the plankton talk sketchnote. Part 1 covers what plankton are, the history and ecological importance. Part 2 covers the ecological and other human impacts and future research and protection efforts.

My process for putting a sketchnote like this together:

  • Re-listen to the program taking lots of detailed notes

  • Turn to Miro (my favourite brainstorming tool) to plan the structure and design

  • Create some illustrations using DALLE (sourcing others from the internet)
